How to Fire Your Boss
How to fire your boss?
This is a topic that is very close to my heart.
'Firing your boss permanently' means, starting a new way of life.
You are deciding to go out on your own.
That requires a lot of courage.
If you want to achieve financial freedom in your life, if you want to escape the 9-to-5 rat race, if you want to fire your boss, then there are three specific action steps that you can take.
1) Make a decision that you are going to achieve financial freedom in your life.
Because, unless you decide to achieve financial freedom in your life, you will never be able to fire your boss.
Always remember: If you don't fire your boss, then you will get fired by your boss someday or the other, no matter how great you are, at your work.
Given the current economic scenario, and things like downsizing and cost cutting, no matter how good an employee you are, chances are very high, that atleast at some stage in your career, you will get fired.
This has become the norm now.
Hence, you must be proactive, and instead of your boss firing you, you yourself must take the initiative to fire your boss and go out on your own.
The only way to do that, is to first achieve financial freedom in your life.
Take a decision right now.
Most people never take this decision in their entire life.
So, the mere fact that you have taken this decision puts you in the top 3% of the people in the world.
2) Take the specific action steps that are required for you to achieve financial freedom in your life.
Just going to work in the morning, coming back home, earning your salary, paying the bills, investing in an SIP in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, watching Netflix on weekends: all these things are not going to help you achieve financial freedom, because that is what everyone else is doing.
Financial freedom comes when you decide to take the route that not many people take.
Financial freedom comes when you decide to stay away from the crowd.
So the question is this:
What are the specific action steps that you can take, right now to achieve financial freedom in your life?
By the way, financial freedom does not mean being rich.
There is a big difference between 'being rich' and 'being financially free'.
You don't have to be rich to achieve financial freedom in your life.
Financial freedom is when your total monthly passive income either equals or exceeds your total monthly expense.
If you do that, you are financially free.
Passive income is the income that you earn without working.
So, to earn the passive income you need, to achieve your financial freedom, you will have to either buy or create assets.
Assets are the things that put money in your pocket consistently every single month, whether you work or not.
Assets can take care of the bills and other living expenses.
It is as simple as that.
If you don't have the money to buy assets, then you will have to start creating assets.
If you don't have the money, you can choose to raise money to create an asset.
If you are not interested in raising money, or if you don't have the skill of raising money to start a business, then you can use your other two resources.
We all have three resources at our disposal: time, money, and energy.
If you don't have the money, then use your time and energy to create an asset.
And an asset can be anything you want it to.
It can be a YouTube channel which you start, around your passion, which gets a good following eventually, that you can choose to monetize later.
It can be a podcast, which gets a decent amount of audience, because you are creating good content for your audience.
Sponsors love podcasts with a large following.
It can be a digital course that puts money in your pocket every single month.
It can be a real estate unit which you have put on rent.
It can be as simple as a fixed deposit in a bank, which is giving you some interest income.
This too can be one of your collection of assets.
It can be a business that you start, which eventually, does not require your physical presence to operate profitably.
There are many ways to create assets by using simply your time and energy.
You don't need money to create assets.
To create assets, your decision to achieve financial freedom must be backed by energy, and emotion.
If you do not have the energy and emotion behind your decision, you will never achieve financial freedom in your life.
In that case, be prepared to get fired from your boss someday in your career.
You must become proactive.
You must flip the game in your favour.
That requires massive action and a very strong decision.
The first step to achieve financial freedom in your life is to calculate your total monthly expense.
If you don't know what your total monthly expenses are, then how will you know, how much total monthly passive income you need, to achieve financial freedom.
If you have time to watch Netflix on weekends (or weekdays for that matter), but if you don't have the time to calculate your total monthly expense, then forget about financial freedom.
Forget about firing your boss.
I have mentioned multiple ways here to create assets, if you don't have the money to buy assets.
However, the fastest way to achieve financial freedom in your life is: to fire your boss and start your own business.
Initially, you can go part time, because you might have some financial constraints.
But over a period of time, your part time business must eventually morph into a full time venture.
International personal development trainer, Jim Rohn says that, "you should work full time on your job, but part time on your fortune".
If you continue doing that consistently, week after week, month after month, then you will eventually reach a stage where, instead of working full time on your job and part time on your fortune, you will start working full time on your fortune.
That is something very exciting.
You should feel excited about firing your boss.
No matter how noble a person your boss is, no matter how kind he or she is, it is not the job of your boss to help you achieve financial freedom in your life.
Your boss does not exist to give you financial freedom.
Your boss exists in your life, because he or she is required to delegate certain tasks and responsibilities to you.
You are not an asset for your company, irrespective of whatever your HR tells you.
You are an expense for your company.
Your salary is accounted for, as an expense for your company.
Your salary is not recorded as an asset on the balance sheet of your company.
You owe it to your family to fire your boss, start something of your own, and make it into something big, which can help serve a lot of people in your community.
I am not talking about a rash or an extreme decision that you take in your life, without knowing what you are going to do next.
I am talking about a new way of life in which you choose to do what you love to do, while you are serving a lot of people and making money in the process, that is more than enough for you to take care of yourself and your family.
That's how you live your life to the fullest.
You don't live below your means.
You are constantly expanding your means.
I am talking about a new way of life that gives you real fulfilment, and firing your boss is just a means to an end.
Unless you escape the 9-to-5 rat race, your mind will never be free.
If your mind is not free, you will never come up with creative ideas.
You owe it to your family to quit your job, free up your time, be creative, start your own business and create a family fortune, so that your next generation or the generation afterwards, will never have to work for money ever again.
I want you to build a legacy in your lifetime that people will remember you for.
And one of the best things you can do for that, is to commit 100% to your financial education.
If you don't have the necessary, basic, practical and actionable financial education, you cannot expect to achieve financial freedom in your life.
3) Just open your email inbox, type in your resignation letter, shoot the email, wait for a couple of hours for your boss to ring you.
If nothing happens in 2 hours, then just pick up your mobile phone, call your boss and politely say 'thanks, but no thanks'.
That's how you fire your boss.
I encourage you to take 100% responsibility of your life and mind your own business, rather than working for someone else or some company, which is anyways accounting your salary as an expense, by giving you the illusion, that you are an asset for the company.
Don't be expendable.
Be valuable for your community.
If you want financial freedom in your life, you will have to commit to your financial education, which is an ongoing process.
It is not a goal.
It is a never ending journey.
You will get better with time.
Remember, financial education is a journey.
But financial freedom is a very precise goal.
